Repaving around campus – July 28, 2016

Road repaving work is scheduled to occur around campus on July 28, 2016. If the weather is too rainy the work will be rescheduled. The repaving is part of the final phase of repairing roads that were damaged during the construction of the Academic District Energy System.

Repaving will take place at the following locations on July 28:

  • West Mall between Agronomy Road and University Boulevard – a single lane will remain open at all times, but some delays can be expected.
  • Lower Mall between the First Nations House of Learning and Place Vanier Residence – short duration full closure may occur, but it is anticipated a single lane will remain open for a majority of the work.

Traffic will need to travel with caution as the roadway surface might be uneven. During the closure periods traffic will be detoured with signage and traffic control personnel. To avoid disruption, plan ahead and avoid these areas.

Over the course of the day there will be noise and vibrations from the grinding equipment, as well as some odors and vibration from the asphalt equipment.

Line painting will occur mid-August, which will result in only short disruptions to traffic flow.
